COTSWOLD CLASSIC

Our most popular tour starting and finishing each day in Cirencester. Circular routes taking in 4 Cotswold Classics - Bibury, Burford, Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water plus all the amazing villages in between. Spend some time exploring each area - visit local attractions such as the Trout Farm in Bibury and Bourton Model Village or Sample some of the finest cakes in Burford. We will provide you with plenty of local knowledge and information to create the perfect trip. This tour averages 40 miles per day - as with all our tours they are bespoke and can be changed.

ITINERARY

DAY 1 – Today you cover 42 miles and approx. 1400ft of elevation. Today is the flatter of the two days. After arriving at the start and your nights accommodation you can park your car and then hit the road. Today is full of beautiful lanes and quant Cotswold Villages. You will pass through Bibury where you could visit the Trout Farm or Arlington Row owned by the national trust and is one of England's most iconic and photographed sites - it even appears in the UK passport. After leaving Bibury you will pass through the beautiful Coln Valley, before cycling down beautiful tree lined roads into Burford. After leaving Burford you head back towards Cirencester via Fairford the home of the B52 bomber and the lovely village of Ampney Crucis. You arrive back into Cirencester for your nights accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis. Your accomodation is within a 10 minute walk to Cirencester centre.

 Day 2 - After a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast you head out on day 2. Today you cover 47 miles with 2900ft of elevation. After check out you will head out to todays destinations of Bourton on the Water and Stow on the wold. As you leave Cirencester you will head out up the Whiteway past Chedworth airfield which was used in the second world war as a tactical exercise unit by RAF fighter command. Next you reach Compton Abdale which is tucked away in a beautiful tree lined valley. The focal point in the centre of the village is a spring-fed brook which emerges from a "crocodile" head constructed from stone by a local mason in the mid-19th centurAfter a y. Next you reach Stow on the Wold -while in Stow you may want to look for the magical Yew Tree which is said to have inspired J.R.R Tolkien and the Doors of Durin in Lord of the rings. As you leave Stow you then pass through the beautiful Lower Slaughter with its lovely watermill. You will next arrive in Bourton on the Water which is said to be the Venice of England, it is a magical place to explore and grab a bite to eat. After leaving Bourton on the Water you are now heading back towards Cirencester via Farmington, Coln St Rogers and Calmsden before rejoing the Whiteway into Cirencester.

ACCOMODATION

Your nights accommodation is nestled in the outskirts of the charming Cotswold market town of Cirencester. The hotel is perfectly placed for a tranquil Cotswold hotel break. A family-owned hotel with 43 beautifully-appointed en-suite bedrooms, cosy traditional bar, sophisticated Garden Restaurant with pretty walled garden terrace, and a contemporary spa.

 

Rooms are double or twin on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel also serves evening meals and has an on site spa if you wanted to book in!

 

The hotel is within a ten minute walk to Cirencester centre which has a number of boutique shops, restaurants and bars. There are also a number of lovely local walks and you are ten minutes drive from the Cotswold Water park with a host of water sports including SUP and Kayaking.

 

If you would like to book any extra activities or spa treatments we can also arrange this along with dinner reservations.

 

The hotel does not have bike storage its self, however Adventure Velo HQ is 2 minutes from the hotel so we will happily securely store your bike for you. We will even collect and deliver it back to you!

Price starts from £230pp based on two people sharing a twin or double room. Single rooms are available at a supplement. Extra nights accommodation before or after your tour can also be organised.
